You may have heard the saying "you can't pour from an empty cup". It means that you need to take care of yourself first before you can help others. If you are exhausted, stressed, or overwhelmed, you won't have the energy, patience, or compassion to offer to anyone else.
This is not selfish or lazy. It is a matter of self-preservation and self-respect. You have a limited amount of resources, and you need to use them wisely. You can't give what you don't have.

Yesterday I found myself feeling flat and tired, mentally exhausted and in a can’t be bothered frame of mind. I didn’t want to feel like that the whole day, especially as I had a training call at 7.30pm that evening to prepare for and deliver.
So how do you fill your cup when you are feeling drained?
There is no one answer to this question. It depends on what makes you happy, relaxed, and fulfilled. For me, I took a walk with the dog and thought about the many things in my life I am grateful for. The fresh air lifted my spirits enough to think about how I wanted to feel instead. I did a few rounds of intentional tapping on words such as joy, happiness, creativity, spiritual connection and in no time at all, I felt more me again. It felt like being back in my skin, bright and colourful with the gloomy cloud now out of sight.
You may feel guilty or selfish for putting yourself first sometimes. You may think that you are letting others down or neglecting your responsibilities. But remember that by taking care of yourself, you are also taking care of others. You are setting a good example, creating healthy boundaries, and showing respect for your own needs and wants.
Modern Energy Tapping is one way that you can experience yourself as a full and overflowing cup. And when you are full and overflowing, you can share your abundance with others. You can give more generously, more joyfully, and more authentically. You can make a positive difference in the world without draining yourself.
If this resonates with you and you’ve been feeling like an empty cup, then book on my next Foundation Training. You’ll learn a skill for life that will help you and your family with their emotional wellbeing and be a cup that is overflowing with colour.
